The British library are running what looks to be an excellent exhibition, entitled ‘Taking Liberties’ it documents our struggle for right and freedom all the way back to the Magna Carta in 1215. Next time I’m down in London I’ll be dropping by to have a look at some of these documents. Included as part of the Exhibition is a flash interactive website provides information on some key civil liberties issues. The depth of the information is probably not enough to satisfy a seasoned campaigner but no the less it is pretty well presented and includes some nice video footage and animations. Sadly ID cards is lacking as a political issue although CCTV and the DNA database is covered, and ID cards are mentioned under the events sections. I would highly recommend some of these events to those living in or around London.

The exhibition was opened by long standing champion of British Liberty, someone who has been instrumental in the renaissance of freedom for the past ten years of glorious new-labour rule. Yes the people’s freedom fighter the one and only PM Gordon Brown. Who else could possibly have more experince of ‘Taking Liberties’.
